CURSED SKIES

This has been a difficult year in Asia:Malaysia's Airline suffered two losses.Flight MH370, MH17 and most recently Air asia flight QZ8501 Flight MH370 dissapeared on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in march with 239 passengers and crew on board. The wreckage believed to be in southern Indian Ocean has still not yet been located. Flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine in July taking the lifes of all 298 on board. Recently according to the Indonesian officials, after a few hours of flight,Air asia flight QZ8501 pilot requested for a permission to climb to a higher altitude to try avoid the bad weather.Minutes later the plane dissapeared fdom tbe Air traffic control( ATC) without any distress message. Generally although bad weather has been a major challenge in the aviation industry,International Civil Aviation Organisation under Annex 3 has enacted measures for all air navigations. According to the regulation of FAA and ICAO all general aviation aircrafts should be equipped with an Emergency Locator Transmitter(ELT) which is self contained and is designed to transmit a distress signal when an accident occurs and this has worked well on land but due to recent accidents at Asian skies, the applicability of the device is questionable and have left many with questions if air transport is still safe. To enhance general aviation aircrafts tracking i would recommend further research and revision of the ELT in use due to their failure to transmit signals under depth seas or waters
